What Sets our Beef Apart – Grass-fed with a focus on promoting health. Calves are let out to graze pasture with their Momma Cow during the spring/summer/fall. They are finished on a well balanced high quality diet that that is grass and non-GMO forage based, which also includes non-GMO alfalfa hay, non-GMO corn, and organic molasses. All without drugs or antibiotics added to their feed or water. We also feed an antioxidant supplement which helps them stay healthier by boosting their immune system. We do not use hormone implants. No soybean-meal or ethanol byproducts are fed to our cattle. They are fed grass their whole life, even through the finishing phase. Our cattle are predominately Angus and produce a well marbled, flavorful meat.

On our farm, we are seeking to be regenerative in the care of the land, our crops, and our cattle. Among many things, this has included using more natural and organic products and practices to care for our cattle. We have seen some great results with these changes, and hope you will be blessed by that, too. We think you will appreciate the quality and hope you enjoy buying locally- knowing where and how your beef is raised!

Pricing $3.75/lb (based on final hanging weight) + separate processing fee paid directly to locker (Apprx. $1.30/lb)

Simple Steps to Purchase Beef

  1. Call. Text. or Email us at our farm for available locker dates. We work with Highland Post (Orange City, IA), Hudson Meats & Sausage (Hudson, SD), Borderline Butchers (Brandon, SD), and Babcock Locker (Alton, IA).
  2. Send a deposit to reserve your selected locker date. Deposits are as follows: Quarter Beef $75 Half Beef $150 Whole Beef $300
  3. Relax and wait! We will bring your beef to the locker, and once we have the final hanging weight from the locker, we will email you an invoice for the remaining balance due. Send check to “Pleasant Pastures Beef” for remaining amount due. Typical example for a Quarter Beef: 200lbs (hanging wt.) x $3.75/ lb = $750. We will subtract the amount you previously paid down as a deposit. So in this example, the remaining balance to be paid would be $750 – $75 = $675.
  4. The locker will get in touch with you to ask how you would like your beef cut up (processed). They will help you with it if you are new to this.
  5. The locker will call you when your beef is ready for pick up. (Typically can expect it to take about 2-3 weeks for processing). So plan on picking up your beef at the locker approx. 2-3 weeks after the butcher date. Pay locker for processing at time of pick up.
  6. Enjoy your Sizzling Steaks, Burgers, and More
